Expressions of Interest - Across the Top

G’day members,

We’re contemplating putting together what should be one of the biggest and most adventurous club trips we’ve attempted so far, and we want to gauge interest to see how many members would be keen to join a trip to remember.  Right now we’re simply looking for expressions of interest to gauge numbers and identify those who are seriously keen.

The plan?
Depart Cairns area at the very end of July 2027 / early August and head west via the Savannah Way, the Gulf country, Arnhem Land, Daly Waters and the Gibb River Road (and other places), before eventually rolling into Broome sometime in late August / early to mid-September.

This is not going to be a polished tourist convoy sticking to caravan parks and bitumen.

We will be remote touring, travelling the real outback, and four-wheel driving properly. It will suit members who enjoy being part of a capable, self-sufficient group. Think remote camps, long days, iconic tracks, corrugations, places most tourists never see, and access to parts of Australia that only locals and experienced bush travellers usually get to experience.

We’re lucky to have a couple of members who are extremely experienced (and well-connected in) Gulf and Arnhem Land tourers helping lead the trip, which should open the door to some pretty special locations and experiences along the way.

At this stage :

• There is no fixed, confirmed itinerary
• There are no fixed, confirmed dates - just a rough range.
• Expect Cairns to Broome to take somewhere between 4 and 6 weeks
• Members should be prepared to be away for 6+ weeks in total
• Vehicles and drivers will need to be well prepared and genuinely capable
• Participants will need to be comfortable with remote-area travel and helping each other out when needed

We will continue to add more information and detail in due course

IMPORTANT NOTE - This is not intended to be a guided tag-along tour. People will be free to peel away from the group at various points if time (or the challenge) becomes an issue. Some may head south via the Stuart Highway or circle back into Queensland, others may continue west or explore further. How you get home from Broome (or wherever you exit) will be entirely up to you.

So, if this sounds like your kind of adventure, you have 6-8 weeks available and you can commit to a couple of mandatory, pre-departure weekends to run through equipment, polish skills and answer questions, let us know.  

This one should be something pretty special.
