Dearest Grenadier friends!

 

Another month has gone! For some of us, it was a bit busy! With many of us going to Cape York there was a bit of work to be done to make sure the Grenadiers were setup for some adventure! There were no more excuses to not have the right protection, so many of us gathered on the Clearplex Day at Brown Davis and had a layer of windscreen protection added to help with reducing fractures from loose flying stones! The headlight guards from our sponsor (and member) Justin at Euro Flo Australia are ready and have been fitted as well. With many Grenadiers on the Cape already, we are sure we have the right car, but we had some members check in at the windscreen shop in Mareeba for something without cracks. A big big thanks to Ben for allowing us to tinker with our cars at the Brown Davis facility and a big thanks to the guys from FG screens for working around the clock to have 6 cars fitted with Clearplex window protection. 

 

Euro Flo has been flooded with Cape York Grennies fitting the new underbody protection. Bash plates have been designed and fitted for gear boxes and transfer cases. The lesson of June “be mindful of sticks close to the plastic gearbox cover” has been received well and truly by most members. 

 

All club shirts have been delivered and we have full stock! If you haven’t received your club shirt, let us know on the club chat when you will be able to pick up your shirt, or if you want us to deliver your shirt. 

 

We have completed the migration to Member Jungle and it looks like every club member has been able to log on! The application has shown its value with different events and it is great to have all our information in one place. We keep on adding documents, pages and pictures, so make sure to log on to the web and app and check out what is happening! Big thanks to all members for the smooth migration of Whatsapp! All chats on Whatsapp have been sunset!

 

Our June Training camp saw the latest members getting full membership status and being ready to get on the difficult rated trips. Some great pictures and videos (thanks Arthur!) from the weekend, helped by clear skies, and a lot of laughter and fun. This group had everyone learn from each other and everyone got away a little wiser from the weekend! The trainers tested the drivers in some more challenging situations to show them what the Grenadier can do in a safe environment. If you want to get to know your Grenadier in a new way, training dates are being created and the Training events can be found under the events section on the website. (Black Duck had a major event on 30/31 August, so we moved our training to 11/12 October)

 

New Events!

July will be our first National Trip! We have 9 Grenadiers going to the Cape, and we are hoping to brief everyone on the adventures we had on the 24th of July! Look in the events section for the details of the online Meetup and join the Cape group for their chat around the campfire. We will also keep updating everyone on Polarsteps. While some of us are at the Cape, Rob and Bill are taking us for another adventure in D’Aguilar National Park on the 3rd of August! This one will be a bit more low range than last time and promises to bring out the best (of recovery gear) of everyone. 

 

On the 19th of August INEOS Automotive have invited us to a Quartermaster gathering in Mildura. They are going to shout us a meal and have some extra special camping spots for the Mundi Mundi Bash! Details in the Jungle!

We will be racing back to Brisbane where we will have our Club meeting on the 26th with hopefully lots of good stories on our trip to cape! (we will have to cater for some time to watch the trip video). Graham from Braintech has volunteered to do a talk on upgrading your Grenadier electronics for this meeting. 

 

The Moreton Island trip is filling up fast! Early September we will be on the ferry for an extended weekend cruising our favourite island! 

 

The 26th of September we will be heading to NSW / Gundagai with a large delegation of Grenadiers! The new gazebo will be central to our camping spot. We will be displaying the Landrover owners on what they are missing out of and hopefully recruiting some new members! 

 

We have created an easy rated drive from Kilcoy for members and non members through the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. It will be a high range drive where we don’t have to touch the transfer case stick, and can focus on fun and banter with fellow club members! We like you to mark the last weekend in November in your calendars for the club’s Christmas party! On Saturday we will aim to have a festive meal with the opportunity to stay for the weekend as well! 

 

To address some of the concerns of members we have spent a bit of time to improve upon and clarify our existing Code of Conduct, there is now a new section on communication and the usage of social media. To ensure the safety of all participants during INEOS 4x4 Club driving events we have also created an Alcohol Policy to ensure when we are out and about we are wheeling in a safe way. The documents can be found in the Jungle (our website) under resources and documents. There is a link to “Club Governance” documents where you will be pointed to these documents as well as the proposed new Code of Conduct.
