December updates, including new updates from our sponsors!

Welcome to our latest and extended newsletter!

From the President

Merry Christmas and happy New Year everyone!!!

The new year hasn’t even started yet and we already have resolutions to do things better! We noticed that after many years of having the Grenadier around, there isn’t a newsletter which talks about what is happening in the industry, what is happening with improvements on the car etc etc, so, let’s see if this little club of enthusiasts in Queensland can do another world first and extend our newsletter with more Grenadier news.

If you can spare a little bit of time to help us grow the newsletter, please let us know. All help is really appreciated.

This month we are  bringing you updates on the Queensland created Snorkel! Thanks to Justin from Euro Flo. When travelling in remote areas, you never know what you will get yourself into, and you might find yourself in front of a water crossing deeper than 80cm, which is the current limit of the wading depth of a Grenadier. We will be creating new content on our website to highlight the dangers of deep water crossings and what to do, to avoid damage to your car. Other items we have captured from social media, but we like to encourage our sponsors to keep sending us updates the old way, so we can include them in our newsletter.

In addition, we also have some new year resolutions in regard to releasing video content. From now on every video released on the club youtube channel will be reviewed by 2 experts affiliated within the club and will also need to be reviewed by 2 persons outside the club who have a “fresh view”.

We are also urging anyone who wants to release videos where they mention the club, or express experiences with the Grenadier while mentioning the club, to follow the same procedure. Everyone in the club is a big promoter of our Grenadier, but sometimes what we say or how we say items can be misinterpreted in ways we wouldn’t imagine and this can have a negative impact on the club and companies we interact with. We understand that this might have never been the intention, so as of now we have free eyes available or free video review for everyone who likes to release content. (for now email social@ineos4x4clubqld.com.au for any reviews you like to have done)

As a true multi state club, we enjoyed 2 Christmas parties with around 40 people each! The New South Wales members have decided they want to join us with more members and in return we have scheduled the first NSW training weekend. It is exciting to see so many new members from NSW jump on the chats and interact with us. It highlights that we may be better off with a National club with State chapters! Food for thought for 2026!

A lot of people couldn’t make it to the Queensland Christmas party, so we are kicking off the new year with a New Year's party and the much awaited (and discussed!) BBQ on the 18th of January at the Enoggra Reservoir - more details are in the events section of the club site / member jungle.Hope to see you there!

As not everyone could make it to the Christmas party and we have been overwhelmed with sponsor gifts, we decided not to just hold one big raffle., but instead give every member an opportunity to benefit by holding a series of monthly online auctions with some great products.

Upcoming Club Fundraising Auctions and new sponsors

The first online auction is now live and gives club members an opportunity to bid to get their hands on an Expedition HQ service bag.  The auction runs until the 15 of January (our club meeting) so I urge you to take a look and make a bid if you fancy the item.  The link is below:

https://www.32auctions.com/INEOS4x4Club

New sponsors have come onboard and have donated products and discounts for all members! Black Sheep Innovation, Tougher, Clevershade and GrenX are all now supporting our club. Also, Expedition HQ, Ignition Car centre, DMW, and Euro Flo have all renewed their agreements and backed the club for another year.

As I mentioned earlier, we’re kicking off the new year with more monthly fundraising auctions, featuring some seriously good gear generously donated by our sponsors.  Every auction will be run online, with the listing going live (via Member Jungle) around the 10th of each month and closing around the 20th (or near the Club meeting of that month), which gives you plenty of time to get involved.

So you can get ready, here’s the auction calendar:

  • January
Canvas seat covers from Tougher (South Africa)
  • February
Two × $500 INEOS gift vouchers for accessories (provided By INEOS Australia)
  • March
Eibach steering wheel damper, donated by Ignition (Brisbane)
  • April
Slide-out kitchen pantry by DMW (Toowoomba)
  • May
Rear storage units from Euroflo, plus a jumpstarter +compressor  pack from Baintech

Any and all funds raised will go directly into supporting our club and our activities.

Our newsletter will remind you of the upcoming auctions every month. Keep an eye on Member Jungle and your inbox around the 10th of each month, and jump in if something catches your eye. It’s a great way to pick up quality gear and support our club at the same time.

As our Grenadiers are getting a bit older, some of us are looking into upgrading our shock absorbers, and we will be testing out the difference between them. So far we have members with stock, Eiback, Nimbus, Jmax shock absorbers. If anyone has Kings or Koni or other shock absorbers we are keen to hear from them, so they can join in our shock absorber challenge! Reach out to the Technial officer!

Events Update

Most importantly if you want to run an event, please reach out to Tom at events@ineos4x4clubqld.com.au so we can get you going! We are having a trip leader course on the 18th of January, if you like to understand more on how to lead trips effectively! We will be going to Da’guilar national park to have an exciting day of wheeling and learning!

Tom will be taking us to Bribie Island on the 15th of February.

We just concluded a planning trip for our next Condamine River scenic outing! Lots of practice on how to do rivercrossings! Keep an eye out in the events section for when it will be held! (or ask Joel). have a look at the scenery! https://youtu.be/udhDbQT8-vg

More Grenadier news, Snorkels!

euroflowLandscape.png

Snorkels: What are they, what are they for, and do I need one?

First, I want to address a customer who came in recently with concerns about an engine failure. It got me thinking, so I wrote this little article to hopefully help out.

There are quite a few new owners out there where the Ineos Grenadier is their first serious 4WD. They might be asking themselves: "Have I made a mistake buying a Grenadier?"

The answer is No. The engine INEOS chose, in my humble opinion, has legendary status.

I have tried to keep this as simple as possible as not everyone is mechanically minded. So, let’s get on with it.

What is a Snorkel?

A snorkel is simply a pipe or duct through which the engine can draw in air from above the waterline.

Gemini_Generated_Image_h7qj7yh7qj7yh7qj.png"Isn't that the same as the raised air intake that the Grenadier comes with?" No.

The raised air intake does exactly what it says on the tin: it takes air from a raised position. This is great for dusty tracks, but it is not a sealed system.

The factory system has drain holes—two, in fact—for water to drain from the duct.

  • One of these drain holes has a self-sealing rubber grommet, which is great.
  • The one further forward does not.

So, when submerged, the ducting will allow water into the engine air intake. There are a couple more spots where water can get in, but for now, let's just concentrate on the intake system.

Let’s talk about Wading Depth

The Grenadier has a quoted wading depth of 800mm. Should you go over this? Well, no. BUT, sometimes this is unavoidable.

For example: There may be a water crossing. You have walked across to check the level. All seems good. You drive across, and all of a sudden, you drop into a hole that’s 1100mm deep.

This is where your snorkel comes in: TIME.

The Snorkel buys you time.

At this point in the water crossing, you may be stressed out a little. Knowing that your engine is drawing air from above the water level will give you the confidence that your engine will not stall, hopefully reducing that stress level.

The "Dunking Rating"

Let's look at everything else. The engine bay has a lot going on—electrical components, fuse boxes, mechanical components, vent lines, etc. Some of these do not like to be submerged.

However, most of them will have what I call a "Dunking Rating" (not a scientific term!).

Going back to the hole you have just dropped into: As long as you can get in and out in a certain amount of time, you should be OK.

So, do you need one?

  • 99% of you will not.
  • Some users will never go to the places where one is needed.
  • Some users who go a little further will.

So, now that I have reduced the future sales of our snorkel system, let me give you a reason to buy one...

1. They look COOL. Okay, they're not everyone’s cup of tea, and our style might not float your boat. But there are a few of us in Australia making snorkels now, so you have a few different styles to choose from.

2. They sound great. I don't know about the others, but I love the sound ours makes. It’s not too loud, and you hear more of the turbo in action.

grenx.jpgGrenX Updates

Now we are launching a new generation of Nimbus suspension. This is not a refresh. It is a substantial technology upgrade, the result of everything we have learned since day one, distilled into a product that outperforms Vibranium in ways we are genuinely excited to show you.

At the same time, we are adjusting pricing to reflect reality. Steel and aluminum have remained 20% above their ten-year averages since the pandemic. International shipping costs have compounded that pressure. We absorbed these increases as long as we could. To keep building what we build, and keep investing in what makes Nimbus different, pricing has to change.

If you are thinking about ordering, here is what matters: orders placed before January 5th lock in current pricing.

The new generation ships starting in April, first orders first. After January 5th, new pricing applies.

Already ordered and waiting? We will reach out. You can upgrade to the new generation at no additional cost, or receive your Vibranium as scheduled. Your call.

Already drive on Nimbus? A trade-in program is coming early next year.

We built Nimbus because we believed drivers deserved the benefits of oleo-pneumatic technology. That belief has not changed. What has changed is how far we have pushed those benefits.

DMW updates

We like to thank Reuben for coming out to our tech talk at Ignition. It was great to hear how is getting the worlds first extended Quartermaster! Adding 300mm may look like a simple job, but there is a lot to it! We can’t wait to see the end result and what Reuben is going to do with his new Quartermaster. It was good to hear more about the GMV upgrades which the team at DMW has been working on. We are very lucky to have such dedication to improving Grenadiers in our state. If you haven’t given the team a DMW a follow on instragram, you are missing out!  Below are some pictures on what the extension is looking like.

BlackSheep Updates

blacksheep.jpgDue to popular demand, we have finally developed our own version of the Ineos Grenadier floor panel. Based on a modular system, this floor panel can be easily upgraded from the basic trunk version to the “second row delete” system in just a few steps. During development, we focused particularly on lightweight construction using a black powder-coated aluminum base, as well as very easy assembly and disassembly.

The flush-mounted airline rails are positioned to facilitate furniture installation, especially when converting to a pop-top roof. This allows for quick and easy installation and conversion, making it simple to adapt the vehicle to individual needs.

But even without a pop-up roof, the system boasts several advantages. A wide variety of furniture modules will be available in 30/40 and 50cm grids, which are anchored to the floor using a quick-release system. So, stay tuned, 2026 will bring many exciting new developments...**
