Outdoor clothing, closed in shoes, sun protection, and potentially a rain jacket.
Food and drink for the duration including road trip snacks, lunch, and water/beverages. There is a nearby Cafe (a couple of kms away) and the Camp Kitchen
Personal medications, as necessary. (including bug repellent if you need it)
UHF radio - hand held will be ok due to our proximity.
Tyre deflator and air compressor (Portable compressor will be carried in the guide vehicle along with fire extinguisher and first aid kit)
Bag of firewood for your own, or shared campside fire maybe a diesel heater if we are really luck.
What to expect:
Friday afternoon - setup camp and optionally explore the 4WD playpen - try out your Grenadier ion some obstacles in a safe space.
On the Saturday day we will meet at the upper level of the Retreat at 9am for a morning adventure and then at 1:30pm for those wishing to explore the other side of the park. The tracks are relatively clean mixed dirt/rock base and mud free (closed if wet conditions persist) but have some steep downhills on them. There are some more challenging paths through some bits, but the main track is easy for a Grenadier to travers. One side of the park goes up the main dividing range, the other goes up the other side of the valley. Groups of no more than 5 Grenadiers will head off for adventures (there is not much opportunity to pass other vehicles on some of the tracks, so communication equipment front and back of the gaggle is paramount)
There is a simple not quite to scale 4WD map for the park that can be downloaded from the web site and you will receive a copy at check in. You must pay for the 4WD pass if you intend to participate on the drives,m but the National Park lookout is free, and the campsite chat and check out other Grenadiers also comes at no additional cost.
Depending on numbers we will head off in groups in different directions.
The National Park lookout is worth a trip (1.5 hours roundtrip including drive time) but thee is somewhat limited car parking so not all at once.
